M1)

M1) Discuss the nature- nurture debate in relation to the development of your celebrity- using factual information. Please ensure you show your understanding at the beginning of what nature and nurture is

Nature: Genetic and biological influences. Physical characteristics are biologically determined by your genetic inheritance
Nurture: Social, economic & environmental influences. For example feral children, feral child is a child that has lived without no human contact and has not experienced any type of love and human language. Which means that they get brought by wild animals.

Nature v Nurture over many years people have argued that we are born to be the way we are. On the other hand other people say that it is the way were brought up and influenced by others and our surroundings that's what makes us who we are. This creates the “nature-nurture debate”

  • Childhood (4-9years)
People would say we inherit the colour of our eyes from our parents so this is nature because it is a genetic inheritance and a biological factor that we get from our parents. At a young age Amy Whinehouse was surrounded with a lot of music from her parents they used to play Carole King her music genre was pop music, blue eyed soul and brill building. They also used to play James Taylor his music was folk rock, pop music, rock music and soft rock. Amy Whinehouse dad is jazz fan so he used to listen to classical jazz around Amy. Since her mother and father loved music this would have influenced Amy a lot about what type of music she liked this is what you call nurture.
Intellectual: She was able to communicate with people she was learning social roles and behavior within her family. Amy Whinehouse wasn't able to learn numbers and so on at this stage in her life yet.
Emotional: During Amy Whinehouse childhood her parents separated so this could have had a large impact on how she looks at relationships and how she is valued as a person. When you’re young you are emotionally attached to your parents with care since her parents split up when she was nine this would have had a bad effect on her.
Social: Since her mother and father are split up they didn't leave in the same household so on the weekends she stayed with her dad and his girlfriend. When you are young you are attached and dependent on both of your parents. The events of her mother and father splitting up this is called nurture.

  • Adulthood (19-27years)
Intellectual: When you get older you start to become wiser because of the situations that you have been through. These situations can influence them in a good or bad way this is called nurture because it influences the individual.

Emotional: At this age adults are supposed to be matured because of what have they have learnt through their life.

Social: As you grow you begin to make new friends and you may start to get into sexual relationships.  Amy Whinehouse broke up with her boyfriend who she was with for two years she drowned herself in alcohol but she also used the heartbreak to write an album. In 2007 she was very abuse towards her partner which was Fielder Civil.  Her husband said that he is the one that showed Amy Whinehouse to cocaine and heroin. Amy Whinehouse said that her “marriage was based on drugs”. But in the end they ended up getting divorced. This is what you call nurture because you can say that the people around her influenced her for example her former husband's influenced her to do cocaine and heroin.
